Definitely a game not to be missed. The stage is set. The pitch is ready. And this Cup tie promises to be a true battle of West Midlands grit and skill.
When teams a division apart meet in a knockout competition, the script is almost always the same: a tight, cagey affair with both sides looking to keep things tight at the start.
The OJM players will be motivated by the prospect of knocking a Premier Division club out of the competition. And, Birmingham OJM do come into this in good form, winning their last four games on the bounce. But will they have enough to overcome a resilient AFC Wolverhampton City team who have established themselves in the top half of the Premier Division so far this season.
Surely, AFC Wolverhampton City will be looking to score early and settle the nerves, while Birmingham OJM may be happy to soak up pressure, keeping the score level and gamble on the drama of a penalty shootout.
In fact, the Midland Football League Cup offers no extra time in these early rounds - so, if the lower-league side can hold out until the final whistle, the tie goes straight to penalties.
Will this fact will shape the game and provide added excitement on the night?
Who knows? But you can guarantee the longer the game remains scoreless, the higher the tension will rise. AFC Wolverhampton City will back themselves to prevail while Brimingham OJM will want to upset the odds.
We welcome Birmingham OJM to the Castlecroft tonight for what is a huge fixture for this football club. On paper, everyone knows the disparity in league status but league standings mean absolutely nothing in the Cup.
My message to the lads is simple: We must show maximum respect through maximum effort. This is a test of our professionalism. We need to be disciplined, clinical in the final third, and relentless for 90 minutes. We must take the sting out of their challenge early and ensure we secure our path to the next round.
To the fantastic City faithful: turn out in numbers tonight. We need your noise and support to make this fortress a truly intimidating place for any visiting side. Let’s get this cup run started together, and let’s get the job done.
The team is clearly capable of scoring goals and dominating games, making them a volatile and potentially explosive opponent for any side.
Birmingham OJM Community Football Club (CFC), nicknamed "The Rangers," is a vibrant non-league side with a history of rapid success and recent movement between divisions, making them a consistently challenging opponent.
The club was initially established in 1996 under the name Black Country Rangers. Their most successful period of league progression came in the early 2010s, where they achieved back-to-back league titles, winning Division Two (2009–10) and Division One (2010–11) of the West Midlands (Regional) League. This rapid ascent placed them firmly in the non-league pyramid's higher tiers.
The Rangers proved their ability to succeed in knockout football by twice winning the coveted JW Hunt Cup (2011–12 and 2012–13). This pedigree confirms their potential for upsets, which is why AFC Wolverhampton City's manager holds them in such high regard for the upcoming cup fixture.
In 2023, the club underwent a significant transformation, rebranding as OJM Community Football Club and relocating their base to the Triplex Sports Ground in Kings Norton, Birmingham.
In the 2023–24 season, OJM once again demonstrated their quality by winning promotion via the play-offs to reach the Midland Football League Premier Division. However, due to non-compliance with ground grading/stadium accreditation requirements, the club was subsequently demoted back to Division One (Step 6 of the non-league system).
OJM spent the 2024–25 season in the Midland Football League Premier Division (Step 5), but due to non-compliance with ground grading/stadium accreditation requirements, the club was subsequently demoted back to Division One (Step 6 of the non-league system).
As of late October 2025, OJM's league form confirms their status as promotion challengers and a tricky cup opponent.
